Millstadt Board Advances Infrastructure Projects, Approves Spring Community Events

Welcome to the Village of Millstadt, IL

MILLSTADT — The Millstadt Village Board of Trustees convened on April 13, 2026, advancing key infrastructure initiatives and finalizing preparations for upcoming community spring events.

Infrastructure and Public Works
A major focus of the meeting was the continued modernization of village infrastructure. Trustees unanimously approved a contract with TWM for the engineering and demolition of the local sewer plant, following confirmation that the project’s insurance requirements have been met.

Additionally, the Board approved the purchase of a new hydro excavation trailer to bolster the village’s maintenance capabilities. The purchase remains subject to a final review of pending quotes from Ditch Witch, Key Equipment, and Tax Exempt Leasing, with funding already accounted for in the current year’s budget.

Spring Events and Community Preparation
The Board cleared the way for several community gatherings scheduled for the coming weeks. Trustees authorized the American Legion Post 502 to hold their annual Poppy Day distribution at the 4-way, scheduled for the morning and evening of Friday, May 15, and the morning of Saturday, May 16.

Preparations are also underway for the Millstadt Autism Walk on April 18. To accommodate the event, the Board approved the closure of American Legion Drive—spanning from the Millstadt Primary Center to the Millstadt Pool—as well as North Main Street from East Gooding Street to American Legion Drive, between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Maintenance crews at Liederkranz Park have been actively de-winterizing facilities and installing sunshades in anticipation of the event.

Regulatory and Administrative Updates
In regulatory matters, the Board voted unanimously to deny a liquor license application submitted by Total Tobacco. Regarding development, the trustees officially approved the 2026 Zoning map as recommended by the Zoning Board.

Looking toward the summer season, the Board approved a subsidy for lifeguard certifications. The village will provide $142.50 per certification for lifeguards, a measure aimed at streamlining the qualification process under new management.

Other administrative items included the successful sale of six spots within the newly placed columbarium, with ongoing discussions regarding appropriate insurance coverage for the site. The Senior Center also reported progress on a grant application for $6,000 intended for a new storage facility.
